This semester was pivotal in my journey to become an educator. I believe that I am proficient in Standard I. I have demonstrated this by aligning my instruction with the Colorado Academic Standards. I use age-appropriate pacing and language and have modeled visual arts skills, application and critical thinking. For Teaching Standard II, I also feel I have demonstrated proficiency as an educator. I have created a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment for my students. I have demonstrated proficiency handling daily classroom routines. I have displayed and reiterated learning targets and success criteria and have engaged and encouraged students as individuals. I am overall proficient in Standard III. I have demonstrated this in all of my lessons. I have shown proficiency in Standard IV and V. One area in which I am still developing would be in is Standard II C. One professional goal of mine is to initiate more collaboration between colleagues. I have worked one on one with classroom teachers to better assist students. I think having more time to read and develop plans for IEP and 504 students will move this standard into proficient. Another goal for myself as a new teacher is to reiterate routine and classroom rules. This becomes so important in the classroom, especially at the elementary level. This goal falls under standard II. Another professional goal is to continue to participate and join in district and state art organizations like CAEA and NAEA. This goal falls under standard V. I feel that I am very comfortable in Professional Behaviors and Ethical Behavior and Integrity. These two qualities are characteristics in which I display in and out of the classroom. I have displayed excellent attendance, promptness, and dress. I have displayed honestly, integrity and respected confidentiality when it comes to all students. One area in which I will focus on for the future is my desire to improve my performance. As a lifelong learner and educator, striving to improve performance is very important. It is a professional goal to continue to seek out professional development and educational experiences.
